TEN EDITING APPS I USE TO CREATE PICTURE CONTENT

By JAK - April 09, 2020

Hi Guys,

I've wanted to get back to the blog so much but inconsistency can be such an obstacle to every love affair. I have absolutely missed creating content and I am just grateful to be here this very minute.

So while reading through SIAINSTYLE's blog recently here I stumbled on a very beautiful concept called Microblogging.

In the light of learning new things, I've decided to try out microblogging for a change. So, I would put you through ten apps I personally have used to create picture content.

First of all, I would like to advice that when dealing with pictures, inspiration is highly fundamental and in that light it is always helpful to have an on the go app to look through for whatever kind of inspiration you need.

PINTEREST is an all time favorite because you can find almost every kind of inspiration on there and you do not even have to have an account to access the content there. You just need to go to your search engine and browse or download the app. Other inspiration platforms are Unsplash and Canva.

LET'S DIG IN

Lightroom Mobile

I often get a lot of questions about how I got my aesthetic instagram feed and I thought it best that I not only introduce you to the King Preset maker but I take you through others too. I like Lightroom mobile because you can use it free as well as make your own authentic preset instead of buying someone else's preset (once you have a preset you just need to copy and paste the edit to future pictures) and it is on your phone so you can edit on the go. Here, you can learn how to easily use the app.

Airbrush

This one I particularly like for skin tone and acne correction. There are other apps you can use for that but I personally use this one because of how well the app produces this features on the final picture.

 Snapseed

I learnt about this one from one of my photographer friends. He said then that it could help me achieve the professional photo feel. After editing the picture it can pass as a professional photographers edit.

Huji CAM

I particularly like the retro (old school) and vintage feel you get from this app. It adds a super dramatic look to pictures you take with it. Pictures taken with the app hardly require more editing.

 Mojo and Mojito

This one allows you use pictures to create video like-content. It has in-built video styles you can choose from to create video content.

MOJO LOGO

 UNUM

This one is a game changer for scheduling instagram posts. It allows you to arrange your instagram feed in order to know the best fit and arrangement for your feed. Before you post to your actual instagram account, you can write your caption and also check the analytics of your previous posts.
It includes features such as best time to post and features to move the posts around by itself.

 Unfold

This one is best for instagram and facebook stories and occasionally for aesthetic looking pictures.

Canva

This is the newest app I have been using and I can boldly boast that it can pass for the best app. It can do almost everything you want it to and you do not even have to download the app. It is simply amazing.

VSCO

This one is a community as well as an app because you get to network with other photography creatives while on the app. It has in-built presets as well that you can use for a consistent instagram feed.

Facetune

This was one of the first editing apps I started using when I decided to take my editing game to the next level. I used to use it to whiten backgrounds and do some basic retouching. It can be used for a couple of other things as well.

One thing about editing apps is; they are improvements from whatever has been available before. In that light most of them can do multiple things that other  apps can do as well. Like Canva, can be used to create insta stories as well as unfold, mojo and mojito. Snapseed can be used to change different background intensities as well as Facetune. They are all available on iOS and Android so it's a win for everybody.

You can be like me who likes to have everything or check them out and make a pick based on what features you need for editing your pictures.

That's it from my end today guys. I hope this post is very helpful and you learnt something new. Please if there are bomb ass apps you know that I didn't mention. Do leave a comment and I would be very happy to do a follow up post and also mention you in gratitude.

Stay safe, stay home and continue to stay healthy.

  1. I legit use about 5 of these, but I'm still not used to lightroom mobile, some things I'm not sure it can do for me, like background manipulation...

  2. Well if you use it some more you will get used to it. And as I said my best feature is the preset making feature so although it may not be best for background manipulation. It has some real good features.
